Great War Island Walking Tours: Get Closer to Nature!
The City Municipality of Zemun continues with projects that promote Zemun as a natural oasis and the heart of ecological tourism in Belgrade.
During July and August, citizens and visitors from all countries will have the opportunity to enjoy getting to know the interesting things that the Great War Island has to offer, as an untouched pearl of nature, the Dunavska ada at the confluence of the Sava and the Danube and a protected natural asset, with an area of 211.38 hectares.
Accompanied by a guide from the City Municipality of Zemun, during the free walking eco-walk, visitors will be introduced to the island’s history, protection regimes, diverse flora and fauna of the island, especially indigenous and endangered species, specificities, but also the dangers posed by environmental pollution , introduction of invasive species, excessive use, urbanization…
After a two-hour walk along the “health path” within the 2nd protection zone on the island, the Green Amphitheater will discuss nature protection and the natural values of the island, and realize a humorous eco quiz and eco workshops for children.
Tours will be held on Fridays and Saturdays, starting at 9 a.m. and lasting three hours.
The first date is July 8, and the last is August 20.
The meeting place is at the exit from the pontoon bridge on the beach “Lido”.
It is necessary to bring a bottle of water, a hat or a cap, and to have adequate shoes and clothes for being in nature.
